Captain Jamison Johnson, founder of River Runner Guide Service, has been passionate about fishing since the age of four. Raised in the Midwest, he grew up casting lines in local rivers, lakes, and backwaters every chance he could. What started as a childhood hobby quickly turned into a lifelong pursuit—both a personal passion and a professional calling. Now based in Stillwater, Minnesota, Jamison has turned his love for the water into a career helping others experience the excitement and joy of fishing. Whether guiding seasoned anglers or first-timers, his goal is always the same: make the day safe, successful, and full of great memories.

With over 30 years of experience on local waters, Captain Jamison is a highly respected St Croix River fishing guide and holds a U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain’s license. He’s intimately familiar with the river’s flow, structure, and fish patterns across all seasons. Known for his patience and professionalism, he tailors each trip to meet the needs of his guests, whether it’s a family-friendly fishing charter in St Croix River or a trophy hunt for monster Sturgeon. Safety is his top priority, and each trip is run with up-to-date equipment, full compliance with local regulations, and a sharp eye on changing river conditions.

Beyond guiding, Jamison is active in local conservation efforts and community programs that promote sustainable fishing practices. He works closely with Minnesota’s DNR for tagging and tracking Sturgeon populations and regularly volunteers at youth fishing clinics to help educate the next generation. For smaller groups or sport-focused outings, the 2020 Warrior V2090—equipped with a 200hp Yamaha, GPS, VHF radio, trolling motor, and live well—offers fast, agile performance. For larger groups or families, the 32’ Sun Tracker Party Cruiser provides comfort with a 150hp Mercury engine, air conditioning, bathroom, kitchen, and full seating for up to six guests.
